Discovering what life is about

10 values

  1. Standing up 1 more time - Stand up one more time than you’re comfortable with and you often get rewarded.
  2. Following Through - Words are meaningless unless they are followed by actions. What matters is what actually gets done by the end of the day.
  3. Being happy no matter the circumstances - There is always a silver-lining. There is always something to be happy about. It’s learning to see that in the worst of times that’s the key to happiness.
  4. Leading by Example - Do not preach that which you do not follow, else it will lose all its meaning.
  5. Giving more than you receive - If you take one and give two. It will end up leaving a positive impact on the world.
  6. Taking Massive Responsibility - You are responsible for where you are. Period. Anything else is just blaming the outside world. It will do nothing for you. No matter what happens, look first at what you did and what you could do.
  7. Just a little extra - Do not expect to do twice as good today as you did yesterday. Life is not a race. But do try to do a little bit better. A small improvement a day adds more than you think it does.
  8. Being Fully Present - If you choose to be somewhere then be there with body, mind and spirit. It’s not fair to others nor to you to not give every moment your undivided attention.
  9. Being Courageous - Most of the best things in life happen outside your comfort zone. When you’re scared to do it its most rewarding when you do it. Also: The most important actions in life are often the scariest.
  10. No Compromises - If you value something you do not compromise on it. It doesn’t matter where you are, who’s watching, and how many bad looks you get. If it matters to you you stand up for it and fight for it, even if no one is looking.

  1. Listen more, talk less: People have very little time to listen to other people's words in this day and age. Everyone is so focused on their own problems. Sometimes, all one needs is someone who will listen to his woes in life, rather than ranting about his. That's why I try my best to be a good listener.
  2. Always be open to suggestions: This is only because I have so many things to learn and I make so many mistakes in life. That's why I feel that any suggestion from my peers about any aspect of my life, should be welcomed by me. In the end, it will be your own decision, but the more suggestions you have, the better your chances are of making the right choices.
  3. Be optimistic: Because if you aren't, then you are just a pessimist. And it's very hard to improve in life if you only see the negatives in it.
  4. Always try to avoid confrontational situations: I am not good at confrontations. So, I try my best not to be in such situations.
  5. Be open to learn: We are just kids in this vast beach of knowledge, having just one or two sand particles. So, it's better to open your mind and take in whatever knowledge that you can.
  6. Love your parents: When no one was there, they were. Two of my best friends. I honestly could never imagine my life without them. I think the same goes with everyone. Parents give us something that I think very few people other than them can. And that’s unconditional love. So, we should never ignore them when they are vulnerable.
  7. Never be an elitist: No matter what happens in our life, we should treat everyone equally. But I have seen people, looking down upon others when they get to a certain stage in society. And that sickens me.
  8. Try and be genuine: It's just a basic thing. You can't last long in life by putting on a fake face. Never be ashamed of your originality.
  9. Help the society in the little ways that you can: Something I saw in Jagannath temple in Puri some 2–3 years back, that hurt me badly. I pledged to myself back then, that I will give 1000rs out of my salary every month, from the day I get paid, to someone who needs it. I just started doing it from last month (as I got my first salary), and it feels great. I hope to continue doing this for as long as I live.

  1. Take Responsibility of your Life : Only you are responsible for every thing that happen in your life, either good or bad, and only you can change it. No one else is going to change it for you.
  2. Attitude matters : What ever you say in your mind you become. If you think positive, positive things will happen.
  3. Identify and Achieve Goal : First understand what is your goal in life. Then just focus on that goal. You don’t need to do every work, assign it to other people and utilize your energy in your goal.
  4. Keep Calm : Keep your mind cool and calm it will help you to understand things properly. Don’t rush to any thing, you are doing good in your life.
  5. Manage Money : Spend on Needs and not on wants.Make proper investments from your salary. Invest in Land/Mutual Funds for long term gain. Always remember that greatest investment is investment in yourself.

My top 5 values are:
1. Resilience : I'v been through amazing highs but the lows always take me by suprise. It is fun conquering the lows.

2. Curiosity : It is what keeps my life fresh and there is always something I don't know..Like this journey of unravelling things never ends.

3. Warmth: I think it is important to smile..that is all one needs to touch lives and what touches me most.

4. Optimism and hope : I am an over optimist..But I still count it as a value..To always have the lights on in life..

5. Opinionated not unnecessarily argumentative or defensive
